Patient Observation in a Linear Accelerator Room
In the linear accelerator room of a public hospital, we installed a live-view camera system that helps operators observe the patient and the room from their workstation. Two smart IP cameras, each with a distinct role, combine an overall view with the detail needed at any moment. The system operates without recording images.
Our approach
The right view. At the right moment.
Two cameras with a shared purpose.
The fixed camera provides an overview of the room. The movable camera, with 25× zoom, allows operators to focus on the patient and areas requiring closer observation. They can move from a wide view to a close-up as their needs change.
Precise joystick control.
A dedicated joystick controller and camera management device let operators adjust the movable camera’s direction, zoom, movement speed and zoom speed. This supports both rapid repositioning and fine adjustments to the view.
Key viewpoints at the touch of a button.
Working with the responsible operators, we saved their chosen points of interest as preset views. At the touch of a button, the camera moves quickly to the selected position with its saved zoom setting, avoiding repeated manual adjustment.
Live viewing without recording.
The installation supports immediate visual observation. To protect patients’ personal data, camera images are not recorded and no video archive is created.
A demanding installation.
The room’s radiation environment made equipment selection particularly demanding. Reliable operation under the specific conditions of this installation was essential. The project was completed successfully, meeting the visual observation requirements defined by the operators.
The installation, up close.
